Play, Play, Play

Play, Play, Play

By Blessed

Play, play, play

That game you think you play so well.

Only time will tell how good you are at it

Your bag of tricks is full of trinkets for your magic

But every trick you know has already been performed, & exposed

So play, play, play

Read my eyes and then close the book

Keep telling me your deception

I dare you

Expose your conjured thoughts too me,

thinking that I'll eat them up

Continue to act like you run the world

You've convinced yourself,

Constantly switching modes behind closed doors

Keep running away from your truth, trying to teach me to do the same

I promise I won't listen

Your love is so warm when it's true

But when was the last time you were true to it, instead of using an imitation of it for your unwanted game of choice?

That rose I bought you, was real

The time I said you're the only one my eyes can see, I was truthful

Not telling you I'm blind, but telling you that although I think you're among the prettiest of them all, my eyes are drawn to more than the aesthetic

I saw the beauty beyond your hazel eyes

The truth that you lived by in the beginning

When you felt unsure if another woman was on my mind when your name came out of my mouth..

When you were still going out of your way to impress me & let me see your worth

But now, instead you play, play, play,

While I pray, pray, pray

I'm worth more than any game you know...

Love never was, is not, & never will be a game, so I refuse to play it

And as you play, we sink

Every button you push, pushes me further away

That combination you're sure will make me stay, apparently you haven't tested on the right man

My words to you can signify transparency at it's finest,

But they become cloudy when mixed with your elixir

You see-saw with your affection

If only I could see what I saw in you the day we met

The genuine desire for a good man to trust...

But now, you play, play, play

Pushing me away, away

They say when the good comes, you appreciate it so much more, because of the bad that's happened before

Too bad for you that my plan, now shattered, was to love you so much more

To open your mind to my heart's deepest locations

Resorts with endless blue waters for you to swim in

My heart beating blood red into your veins...

But you played,

For a few minutes, I stayed

Silly me, thinking that you would turn away from the TV screen

Too focused on the created images you can manipulate by simply shifting your finger

Soon enough you'll see that you were the only one with a controller in your hand...

But go ahead

No, keep on playing,

Walk out the door with your smile, at my expense

I won't be here when you get back, pinky promise...

Disclaimer: This is not directed at anyone, nor am I venting because of any particular situation. I'm presenting a problem, and talking about it from the perspective that I have, writing it in a way geared towards you being able to read it, and put yourself right in the shoes of the poem...hope you enjoyed reading.
