Fathers: The Great & The Greatest

These are the types of things my Father began teaching me at an early age
I look at how he treats my mother, and that alone sometimes makes me want to show my wife how lovely she is...
I'll never forget the day when we were driving out of the driveway, and you stopped the car, got out & picked out a rose, and gave it to her
At that moment, I truly realized where I got my desire to make my woman feel lovely from...you
I look back to the times when I was a little boy and you began teaching me life lessons in bite sized pieces suitable for my age..
You were always a great teacher
& even up until this very day, I still come to you to talk about my deepest fears & struggles
And I also to share with you my biggest successes & dreams..
You willingly offer such deep wisdom, truth, and understanding
You teach me how to be dependent on God, while standing strong as a man.
You instilled the concept of integrity
You taught me that I must be the same man in public that I am behind closed doors
Your teaching methods were so effective because you not only told me, but you constantly showed me with your lifestyle
You've played such a huge role in my life,
Everytime someone tells me I look just like you, I smile with pride
I don't mind being the splitting image of greatness...I don't mind it one bit
I think of so many guys I know that are missing that part of their lives, and how it affects them
I see how many girls I know are missing that part of their lives, and how they long for that male figure of strength
I'm glad that you made the decision to be here for me, without even thinking twice about it
You cared for your son, while taking in other sons & daughters under your wings, providing for, and teaching them as if they were your own
There aren't many men that would do something as great as that
Most of all, you've been the main spiritual leader in my life..
You've taught me so much about Christ, and are continuing to teach me a lot more...
I value our friendship, your mentorship, and your leadership

You are the only one that could ever answer any question I ask
The only one who could completely comfort greater than any woman can
You are the only One that I want to be a part of every aspect of my days, knowing that you have my welfare on your fingertips, and on Your heart
Lord, every day is Your day, especially since You created them
Without You, I can do nothing
With You, I can do more than I can imagine, because Your power & ability go far beyond my mental capacity
I know I'm not always the greatest son, but still You love me so unconditionally
You teach me constantly
You lead me steadily
You uphold me gracefully
You show me the way, the truth, and the life
Thank You for always providing, tangible and intangible
You're the greatest Father I could ever ask for, and more
Thank You for giving me a great earthly father, and using him as a big part of Your will in my life
